My name is Kaleena Carter, and I genuinely enjoy my job as an educator. I have been developing my craft as a teacher for over ten years now. I am originally from Ypsilanti, Michigan, USA.  I earned my bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University, majoring in Mathematics for Secondary Education with a minor in the French Language for Teaching. I currently hold a Masters in Fine Art and recently earned a second Masters of Art in Educational Technology. I have a strong love for mathematics, technology, and the arts and am enjoying how they intersect in my teaching. I teach Algebra II with Trigonometry, AP Statistics, and AP Calculus at the moment, however, I have experience with other courses as well. I began teaching in Michigan and then moved to California and taught for a while there. I then started my adventure teaching internationally back in 2013. I have called Seoul, South Korea, my home ever since.

Aside from teaching math, I enjoy getting involved in extracurricular activities. I coach the high school competitive cheer squad at KKFS and am also the coach of the peewee cheer club for the elementary students. I enjoy engaging students who have an interest in problem-solving, so I also co-sponsor the 'Mu Alpha Theta' Chapter here at KKFS. The newest club that I am sponsoring is 'Girl Up.' I continue to look forward to building new relationships with the student body! In the start of the 2015 school year at my current school, Korea Kent Foreign School, I took on an additional role as the onsite College Counselor. I help students complete their high school years with ease by supporting them in their quest for a higher education. This role has helped me create an even stronger relationship with the student body.

Some of my hobbies include yoga, painting, designing, shopping, and learning anything new. I also enjoy traveling and have been to Europe, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, China, and Hong Kong, to name a few. I enjoy taking care of my cat and watching the occasional K-Drama. If I am not busy creating art, I spend my free time volunteering in a curatorial collective, so my weekend activities usually involve supporting local artists, artist-run spaces, and creators. I got married in 2019 and we welcomed our first child in February of 2020. I look forward to starting my new life as a parent and seeing how this new perspective will enhance my teaching!   If you would like to learn more about me, you can visit my website:
